Friends of Magdalen Libraries & Archives
Learn more about the College’s collection as a Friend of Magdalen Libraries & Archives
Magdalen’s remarkable collection ranges from one of the the earliest known surviving fragments of the New Testament to first editions of some of our most famous authors, as well as over eight centuries of history about the College, its estates, and its members.
Our libraries and archives are one of our greatest assets, and the buzz of research, teaching, and creative inspiration that happens on a day-to-day basis around the collection is something that we hope to be able to share with all the members of the College, past and present.
That’s why we have established the Friends of Magdalen Libraries & Archives for those who would like to learn more.
It’s free to become a Friend, and the benefits of membership include:
- A biannual newsletter about the work of our librarians and archivists
- Invitations to library and archive events happening in College
- A bespoke tour every year to one of the many fantastic libraries around Oxford.
Contact us at alumni.office@magd.ox.ac.uk to become a Friend of Magdalen Libraries & Archives.
“Many of our acquisitions would not be possible without the support of the Magdalen community, for example, the blood-stained map which T.E. Lawrence carried on his foot-tour of Syria in 1909 was only acquired with support from an old member.”
