Library & Archives Contact Details
For any non-library and archives’ related college enquiries, please contact the porters on 01865 276000 or click here.
All current Magdalen members can use the Longwall Library 24 hours a day.
Members of other colleges and academic researchers can read unique items in our collections by making an appointment via firstname.lastname@example.org. All library hours for visitors are 09:30–12:30 and 14:00–16:30. The Longwall Library can be visited any weekday, and books from the Daubeny or McFarlane collections may be consulted in the Longwall Library. The Old Library can usually only be visited on Thursdays and Fridays. Please note that enquiries relating to the College’s early-printed and manuscript book collections should be addressed to the Library (email@example.com) and not the Archive.

The Archives can be consulted by making an appointment in advance via the Archivist. Visiting hours are usually 10:30 to 12:30 and 14:00 to 16:30 on Mondays and Tuesdays (not Thursdays and Fridays as was previously the case for many years). Most items will be consulted in the Old Library but please check with the Archivist beforehand.
Note that any enquiries relating to the College’s early-printed and manuscript book collections should be addressed to the library in the first instance (firstname.lastname@example.org), as these do not form part of the archive collections.
