I read Mathematics and Computer Science at Oxford from 2017 to 2021, then moved to Cambridge for my PhD, which I completed in 2025. I returned to Oxford as a Senior Research Associate in the Department of Computer Science, and finally joined Magdalen as a Fellow by Examination in October 2026. In Hilary Term 2027 I will also be a Stipendiary Lecturer in Computer Science at Merton.
My research lies at the intersection of mathematics and computer science, and in particular at the interface of combinatorics, model theory, and complexity theory. Much of my work concerns identifying which structural features of graphs guarantee tractable algorithmic behaviour. These features often turn out to be intimately related to logical notions of tameness, such as stability and dependence, and I try to make this relationship precise: characterising tame classes in combinatorial terms, and using those characterisations to obtain algorithmic meta-theorems, such as efficient model checking, for them.
Beyond research, I am very enthusiastic about music and cinema.
