Magdalen College welcomed eight new Fellows and a Senior Demy at a ceremony yesterday, followed by a dinner in Hall in their honour.
The new Fellows are Dr Benjamin Bedert (Mathematics), Dr Ioannis Eleftheriadis (Computer Science) and Dr Kristen Pearson (Archaeology), all of whom were appointed to Fellowships by Examination. Dr Irene Bavuso was appointed to an Official (Tutorial) Fellowship in History, in association with an Associate Professorship of Medieval British and European History. Professor Julia Badger, Professor Byron Byrne, Dr Ishbel Henderson and Professor Sir Nigel Richard Shadbolt were all admitted as Fellows by Special Election.
Dr Kim Eileen Ruf was admitted as Senior Demy while working as an AHRC Research Associate in the School of Archaeology.
The day’s events began with the annual Show of Argent in the Terry Newport Room, where guests viewed a selection of the College’s silver and other plate over drinks and canapés.
The new Fellows and Senior Demy were then formally admitted at a ceremony in the President’s Lodgings, before dinner was served in Hall.
