50+ visits to schools and colleges in 2017
Magdalen is fundamentally committed to ensuring that the best students are admitted to study here, regardless of their ethnic, social, religious, or educational background.
One of Magdalen’s most important investments is in encouraging students from a range of different backgrounds to apply to Oxford and in giving them the information they need in order to make a competitive application.
With one of the most generous student support systems, we are also committed to ensuring that students receive the financial support they need in order to study here.
Dr Ed Dodson, the College’s Outreach Officer, works with schools and colleges to support and encourage applications to study at Oxford.
Please contact him at email@example.com or 01865 86697 if you would like to arrange a visit or have any questions.
The University has established a programme of regionalisation, under which each Local Education Authority is linked to a particular college.
The link regions for Magdalen are:
If you are a teacher from a school or college in one of these areas, then please get in contact to arrange a visit. If you are from a different region then please click here to find your link college.
What will a visit involve?
Visits can range from a forty-five minute College tour to a full-day event, and can be designed to fit the age group of the students and particular needs of the school.
An inbound visit may involve a number of sessions, including:
- a ‘Welcome to Oxford and Magdalen’ presentation
- Q&A with current students
- a College tour
- lunch in Hall
- an academic taster session
- a mock tutorial
- admissions and interview workshops
It may be possible to combine a visit to Magdalen with a session at another College. You may also want to visit one of the University Departments or one of Oxford’s many excellent Museums.
Hosting a visit at your school or college
Ed, our Outreach Officer, also travels to visit schools and colleges in our link regions. He is happy to talk to students, staff, and parents about the University, and can also deliver admissions and interview workshops.
Magdalen works with IntoUniversity, a charity that aims to raise educational aspiration and achievement among some of England’s most disadvantaged communities. Magdalen also works with Oxford for Oxford, which operates in partnership with key state schools in the Oxford city area, and The Access Project, which provides one-to-one tuition to students in disadvantaged areas.
If your organisation is interested in working with Magdalen on its Outreach projects then please get in touch.
We would also love to hear from Magdalen alumni who now work in education.
