I studied Modern German Literature and Art History at Ruhr University Bochum, where I also obtained a university certificate in German as a Foreign Language (DaF).
I have taught German language and culture at a number of German universities, including Freie Universität Berlin, TU Dortmund University and the University of Education Freiburg. In 2026, I joined the University of Oxford as a DAAD German Lektor, teaching across the Oxford German Lektor consortium (Oriel, Jesus, Somerville, Magdalen and Christ Church).
My undergraduate teaching covers German language and grammar, oral and written communication, German society and culture, essay writing, preparation for the Year Abroad, and preparation for oral examinations. I am currently also completing a Master’s degree in Mediation, and have a developing academic interest in mediation and conflict resolution in higher education.
Outside academia, I have a particular interest in botany, especially flowers, as well as painting, prints and engravings. I enjoy spending time outdoors and have recently started learning Ancient Greek again. I also enjoy making things by hand, which friends and family tend to receive whether they have requested them or not.
DAAD
As a DAAD Lektor, I am also happy to advise students and researchers interested in studying, teaching or conducting research in Germany, including information on DAAD programmes and funding opportunities. I am also involved in selecting Oxford students for DAAD University Summer Courses in Germany.
Further information about my DAAD-Lektorat and the Oxford programme can be found on the DAAD website.
