I grew up in Oxfordshire and was an undergraduate in Classics at New College, Oxford. I studied for an MPhil and PhD at the University of Cambridge (Peterhouse) before returning to Oxford to teach Greek and Latin in the Faculty of Classics. My doctoral thesis, entitled ‘Writing Practical Mathematics in Greek and Roman Antiquity’, reflects interests in the classical languages themselves, less-explored corners of ancient literature, and ancient scientific and technical writing.
