Background:
I am currently a Walter Benjamin fellow at the Faculty of Philosophy at the University of Oxford. I joined Magdalen College as a Senior Demy in Philosophy. Prior to that, I held stipendiary lectureships (Lehrauftrag) at the Faculty of Philosophy, Universität Heidelberg, and at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, where in October 2024 I was awarded my PhD (DPhil), funded by Elsa-Neumann-Stipendium. During my doctoral studies, I spent a year at the University of Oxford as a recognised student, supported by DAAD. Upon my return to Germany, I contributed to the Heirs of Avicenna research project at the Munich School of Ancient Philosophy (MUSAΦ), Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München.
Research:
My research focuses on natural philosophy, with an emphasis on how the Arabic philosophical tradition developed views derived from Ancient Greek philosophy. I am particularly interested in the notion of atomism and its utility for reconstructing a novel interpretation of the elements of Aristotelian Physics within the global historiography of philosophy.
