Background

Betty is a third-year DPhil in the Faculty of Music. Her research interests include ethnomusicology with an interdisciplinary approach encompassing cultural studies, gender studies, anthropology, and performance studies. Prior to her time at Oxford, she completed her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Chinese Literature and Cultural Studies at Xiamen University and Peking University, respectively. In addition to her DPhil research, Betty is passionate about stage performance. As a soprano, she has successfully performed at various venues across the UK, Germany, Austria, and Mainland China, both as a soloist and as part of choirs or opera productions.
