Background

Rory Maw joined Magdalen College as a Fellow in March 2014 and served as Investment Bursar until early 2022, when he took up the role of CEO at The Oxford Science Park full time.  He was previously a Partner and CFO of Bridges Ventures, a private equity firm focused on social impact investment in high growth SME’s and real estate, and an investment banker at Schroders and Morgan Stanley, specialising in mergers and acquisitions. Rory graduated in Economics from Trinity College, Cambridge. For eight years to 2013, he was a non-executive director of Guy’s & St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, latterly as Vice-Chairman, and chaired the hospital’s Finance and Investment Committee. He also served for eight years as a Trustee, Chair of the Audit Committee and a member of the Investment Committee of Guy’s & St Thomas’ Charity, overseeing an endowment of over £500m which supports innovative healthcare delivery. Rory was Chairman of Activate Enterprise, an Oxford-based apprenticeship training provider, for four years from April 2015.

Role in the College

Rory is now a Fellow by Special Election and the CEO of The Oxford Science Park, Magdalen’s largest single investment and one of Europe’s leading locations for life science and technology companies.  He is also the Wine Steward, responsible for managing the College’s cellar and is a member of the Cellar Committee.
