Charlotte Maple

Charlotte is studying for a DPhil in Ancient History at LMH while also acting as one of the Sub Deans at Magdalen. Her research interests include space, movement, memory, and imperial power within the city of Rome from the late Republic to the Middle Empire. This is her fifth year at Oxford, having also completed a BA in Ancient and Modern History and an MSt in Roman History here. In a break from academia last year, she worked as a teacher at her local secondary school in Somerset.

Sub-Deans live in College, and help provide welfare support outside of normal working hours, alongside the Porters.

Feel free to stop them and say “Hi!” if you spot them around College; they’re always happy to have a chat and are on duty on a rota basis from 5:00 PM – 8:00 AM Monday–Friday and throughout the weekends.
