Writing World War I

20 April 2015

Established scholars and doctoral students from France and the UK will be examining WWI literature in both languages, from three perspectives:

How far does the language of poetry permit new forms of expression? How far does prose writing express the loss of sense as well as empirical testimony? How far does the individual lose ground to the group? This conference is generously supported by Magdalen’s Annual Fund. The first day (Fri 1 May) takes place in Magdalen, chaired by Toby Garfitt; the second (Sat 2 May) at the Maison Française.
