The acclaimed author A S Byatt took part in a public conversation with George Rousseau at the Magdalen Auditorium on 3 November 2011. The subject was her most recent publication The Children’s Book.
The audience was given a unique insight into how the author came to write her book. A major theme was how the writing of children’s books often seems to have a negative impact on the children of authors.
The event was sponsored by the Oxford University Centre for the History of Childhood whose directors are Magdalen Tutorial Fellow in History, Professor Laurence Brockliss, and Professor George Rousseau.
