Conservation

Magdalen’s collections include medieval manuscripts, parchment deeds and account rolls, prints, photographs, maps and early printed books in historic bindings.  The college belongs to the Oxford Conservation Consortium, a collaborative conservation centre formed by a group of Oxford colleges in 1990, which provides the collections with specialist care to preserve them for current and future use.

The Chantry Libary:

The Oxford Conservation Consortium supports the Chantry Library, a specialized library collection on conservation, especially book and paper conservation, which includes material on book history, preservation, collection care. Visitors are very welcome, but do email us at chantry.library@gmail.com to book an appointment. The library is normally staffed on Tuesdays from 2-6pm.
