Connecting the Sciences, Medicine and Engineering with Innovative Entrepreneurship
We are pleased to invite you to a lecture by Royal Society Entrepreneur in Residence and Visiting Lecturer in Chemistry, Dr Alan Roth.
Are you a scientist, medic, or engineer who wants to know more about translating your research into an industry collaboration, starting a spinout company, or taking a professional industry position?
This lecture will introduce the progression between academic scientific work and potential innovation as developed in detail in Dr Roth’s award-winning course “Scientific Entrepreneurship®”
Dr Roth is an organic chemist with extensive industry experience covering drug discovery at Merck & Co., consulting at McKinsey, and finance at Commerzbank Investment Management. He was also co-founding CEO of the biotechnology company Chiral Quest in chiral pharmaceuticals, which he took public in the US.
He first came to Magdalen in 1988 as a Postdoctoral Fellow in Chemistry and has returned in 2019 as Visiting Lecturer in Chemistry and the first Royal Society Entrepreneur in Residence at the University. He is also the CEO of Oxford Drug Design, an advanced Chemistry Department spinout in oncology therapeutics led by pioneering AI. You can read more about his work here.
The lecture will take place on Thursday 5th June 2025 at 17:15 in the Auditorium of Magdalen College in Oxford.
