We want Magdalen to feel like home long after you graduate.

From New Building Lawn to Addison’s Walk, Longwall Library to the Old Kitchen Bar, via the Hall, Chapel, and Cloister, we want you to be able to share this special place with your family and friends. All Magdalen alumni are given a special Member’s Card* which unlocks a whole host of benefits and means that you’re always welcome to come back to College any time you like.

We are open every day from 2nd January to the 19th December between 10am and dusk or 5pm, whichever is the earlier.

In July, August and September, the College closes at 6.30pm.

Opening times are subject to occasional change which will be advertised on this website, or on our noticeboard outside the main entrance.

The College will be closed to all visitors on 28th June, 27th September, 6th October and 20th December to the 31st December, all dates inclusive.

Your friends and family are also welcome at Magdalen for free.

For groups over 6 guests, please contact the Alumni Office ahead of your visit.

As an alumni, you are free to walk around the College and ignore the ‘No Visitor Access’ signs towards St Swithun’s Quad, Longwall Quad and the Grove.

You can book breakfast and lunch in Hall during term time. Informal dinner is also available outside of term time.

The Old Kitchen Bar (OKB) is normally open for sandwiches, salad and pizza in the evening. During term time, it is open Monday through Saturday from 10.00am-11.00pm; in Vacation it is open seven days a week from 10.00am-6.30pm. You are not required to book for OKB lunch.

You can take out a Magdalen punt in season (usually May until September) – pre-booking is required and can be done by contacting the Development Office.

For punting guidelines, please read this document ahead of your visit. Please note children under the age of 12 are not allowed in the punts (any child over the age of 12 must wear a life jacket). Please also note the Punt Safety Policy, which can be found here.

Magdalen members are invited to stay with us at College.

The College has a small number of Fellows’ guest rooms which may be made available to members for their personal use. These can be booked no earlier than one month in advance. Please complete this enquiry form.

Out of term time, you can also book a student room here.

You can pay Members’ rates in the Old Kitchen Bar (OKB). Simply show your Members’ card at the till.

Magdalen alumni are able to book private dinners and events in College outside of term. To find out more, please get in touch with the Conferences team.

Magdalen members are welcome to use Longwall Library out of term time or during term time, space permitting.

An access key can be collected at the Lodge upon signing the rules and guidelines and leaving your member’s card as a deposit.

Books are available for reference only.

The Revd Dr Andrew Bowyer, Dean of Divinity, and Mr Mark Williams, Informator Choristarum, welcome members and their families and friends to Chapel services.

Evensong is sung every night in term at 6.00pm except Tuesday, and there is Sung Eucharist every Sunday morning in term at 11.00am.
