Open days and visits
Potential applicants and their families are very welcome to look around Magdalen on any day between 13:00 and 18:00, or dusk (whichever is the earlier). Simply tell the porter on duty that you are a prospective applicant and you will be admitted free of charge. Please see our general visitor information, including opening hours.
Open Days are an opportunity for you to get a feel for the College, ask any questions you may have, and for you to meet our tutors and current undergraduate students. Open Days are designed to help you to decide where you want to study and play no part whatsoever in our selection process.
Dates for our 2019 Open Days are Wednesday 3 July, Thursday 4 July and Friday 20 September.
Our Open Days coincide with open days in many of the other colleges and University departments, which you may want to visit during the same day. For information on University department and other colleges’ open days please click here.
3 and 4 July Open Days
Tours of the College will run all day, and you are welcome to attend a talk by our Admissions staff and meet with subject tutors to find out more about the course that interests you. Please see the programme below for more details. Some of our sessions are offered for prospective students only but we also run a Q&A session for parents, carers and teachers.
Subject Tutor Sessions
Our subject tutors sessions provide a chance for you to meet informally with an Oxford tutor in a college setting and find out first-hand about the college side of teaching. Our tutors are keen to meet with prospective applicants on our Summer Open Days and they will be very happy to answer any questions you have about the College, the course, or any other topics related to studying at Oxford. Please note that most but not all of the courses offered at Magdalen will be represented in the College over the Open Days. If we do not have a subject tutor available here in College, they will instead be available in their relevant Department, where you will be equally welcome to meet with them.
