Magdalen Wins University Challenge for a Record Fourth Time

29 March 2011

On 4 April 2011 Magdalen College beat University of York in the Final of the University Challenge competition by 290 points to 85. This is the fourth time Magdalen has won University Challenge and no other institution has won it more than two times.

Professor David Clary, President of Magdalen, said

‘We are extremely proud of our Magdalen College team in winning University Challenge for a record fourth time. The blend of undergraduates (Matthew Chan and Will Cudmore) and graduates (Kyle Haddad-Fonda and James McComish) proved to be a winning formula. With Kyle from the USA and James from Australia we have a team which reflects the truly international student composition both at Magdalen and Oxford.’
