Waynflete Quad update March

04 March 2026

The Waynflete Quad project reaches a significant milestone this week as the demolition phase officially concludes on Friday. This marks the end of the first major stage of work and clears the way for the next phase of the project: building.

Following the completion of demolition, the team will focus on a full site clear-up next week. This process involves removing debris, levelling the ground, and ensuring the area is ready for the next stage of construction.

The Chief Archaeologist of Oxford City Council has been finalising an inspection of the site before major groundworks begin. Additional trenches were requested to check for historical remains, but after careful examination, they discovered nothing of historical significance.

Piling should begin on Monday 16th March, which will involve drilling deep holes, inserting reinforcement, and filling with concrete to create strong foundations. Piling works are expected to continue for several weeks as the groundwork for the new structure is established.

Once the main building works begin, individual subcontractors, including groundwork teams, concrete specialists, stonemasons, and others, will manage their own deliveries through an online booking system. This coordinated system is designed to make organising the site easier and reduce congestion.

We’ll update you as the development progresses.
