Véronique Gouverneur receives major international award

Professor Véronique Gouverneur, Waynflete Professor of Chemistry, has been awarded the 2026 Grand Prix Scientifique of the Simone and Cino Del Duca Foundation.

The prestigious prize, administered by the Institut de France, recognises outstanding scientific research. Professor Gouverneur was honoured for her pioneering work developing safer and more sustainable methods for producing fluorochemicals, with the potential to reduce environmental impact and improve industrial safety.

“I wish to express my deepest gratitude to the Fondation for its unwavering support of science and the arts for the greater good,” said Professor Gouverneur, “for recognising our contribution to fluorine chemistry, and for acknowledging the efforts of all my team members here in Oxford.”
