The Magdalen Players staged their annual garden play in Trinity Term, presenting Shakespeare’s The Tempest in the President’s Garden. Directed with bold flair, this year’s production reimagined Prospero as a woman, exploring themes of power, gender, and identity against a backdrop of theatrical magic.

Original music by Seb Carrington brought a vibrant 1970s glam rock atmosphere to the performance, lending the show a glittering, Ziggy Stardust-inspired energy. The ethereal design – featuring gauzy fabrics, shimmering lights, and surreal costuming – transformed the garden into a dreamlike island.

Audiences were treated to Gala Night performances on Wednesday and Saturday, with black tie dress and Prosecco under the summer sky. The production was warmly received and widely praised for its creativity, atmosphere, and strong performances.
