We are pleased to announce that the revised planning and listed building consent for the amendments to the new garden room have been secured, marking an important milestone for the Riverside project.
Work continues to progress steadily on the maintenance workshop on Marston Road and Cloisters IX, which are due for completion on 2 October and 16 October 2026, respectively.
Until October, the Old Kitchen Bar and the Austin Gill Room will remain available for bookings, and the JCR will use the Oscar Wilde Room as a temporary common room. The Gothics toilets are currently closed, although we hope to reopen them soon.
The main phase of work to the Gothics, Old Kitchen Bar, Maintenance Department, Oscar Wilde Room, and Austin Gill Room is expected to begin in October, when these spaces will close, and the Maintenance Department will relocate to the new workshop on Marston Road.
Timber from the felled gingko biloba tree has been stored and will be seasoned for future use. Archaeological investigations are taking place within the footprint of the new garden room, and the scaffolding will remain in place in Cloisters for several weeks while the JCR is being redecorated.
We’ll keep you updated as the project progresses.
