Congratulations to alumna and Magdalen Fellow Laura Swift (1998) who has received the title of full professor in the University of Oxford Recognition of Distinction awards.
Laura teaches widely across Classical Literature at undergraduate level for the College and University. She also welcomes enquiries from prospective graduate students interested in working on Archaic or Classical Greek poetry.
Her main research interests lie in Greek tragedy and Greek lyric poetry. She has published many books on her subject, most recently (jointly with William Allan) a ‘green and yellow’ commentary on Euripides’ Bacchae for Cambridge University Press. She is also interested in fragmentary texts and how scholars and readers deal with them.
