The otters are back at Magdalen. Many thanks to Nick, the porter, for sharing a wonderful video of a group of otters at Holywell Ford.
We are lucky to have otters at College most years, although they are not always easy to spot. Their presence is a reminder that, despite its location in the heart of Oxford, Magdalen, and Addison’s Walk in particular, provides an important refuge for wildlife.
Otters rely on clean waterways and healthy fish populations, making them a good indicator of a thriving ecosystem. Their continued visits suggest that the College’s waterways remain a suitable habitat for one of Britain’s most charismatic native mammals.
If you are lucky enough to spot an otter and capture it on camera, please do let us know. We would be love to share your photographs or videos with the wider Magdalen community.
