Magdalen DPhil student Kevin Giraldo Rodriguez has been awarded the Hester Cordelia Parsons Development and Collaboration Award.
The grant encourages experimental methods at the boundaries of biological, physical, and chemical sciences. It’ll fund a research visit to Sweden’s Karolinska Institutet to work alongside Professor Morten Olsen to develop circular RNA approaches for mucosal vaccine development, aiming to unlock longer-lasting protection against respiratory diseases.
“This collaboration opens up some fantastic possibilities for achieving longer-lasting vaccine protection,” Kevin said, “and it’s going to drive a really exciting, impactful new direction for my DPhil.”
Kevin is in the first year of his DPhil at Magdalen. He’s based within the Pandemic Sciences Institute at the University of Oxford, drawing on his interdisciplinary background in materials science and immunology. He’s a member of the Stevens Group and is co-supervised by Prof. Dame Molly Stevens DBE and Prof. Tess Lambe OBE.
