Magdalen alumna Dr Victoria Nash (1991), Associate Professor and Senior Policy Fellow at the Oxford Internet Institute, discusses online safety, content moderation, and platform regulation following the recent ban of platforms such as TikTok, Snapchat, Instagram, and YouTube for under-16s in Australia.
While there are numerous examples of the negative effects of social media, including online bullying and harassment, Dr Nash considers whether the level of fear may be overstated and examines the positive aspects of social media.
