A former chorister of the Choir of Magdalen College has been named the BBC’s Young Chorister of the Year. Alastair took the senior title during the final on Sunday.
He gave many wonderful performances, but his rendition of John Rutter’s Gaelic Blessing earned him particular praise from the judges. Alastair said the choice of song was a “no-brainer” and described it as “music which makes one feel warm inside.”
“It was obvious from Alastair’s first audition to be a chorister that he was a very special talent,” said Magdalen’s Informator Choristarum, Mark Williams. “His musicality and the quality of his voice shone through.
“It makes us all feel immensely proud to see him perform and to see him celebrated and rewarded for his exceptional talent.”
