On Saturday, 28th June, over 550 alumni, students, staff, and their families joined us to bid a final farewell to the Waynflete Building. Work is now underway to demolish the building, making way for the new Waynflete Quad project.

The event provided an opportunity for us all to see the Waynflete one final time. Alumni walked the corridors, found their old rooms, and shared their memories with us, and each other.

We held the party on New Building Lawns under a large marquee, serving pizza, fish and chips, and ice cream, and there was a variety of entertainment for the 130 children in attendance. Face painting and a magician went down a treat!

We ended by raising a glass to the ‘Flete. President Dinah Rose KC delivered a speech on the legacy of the Waynflete Building and the exciting developments now underway. Her remarks acknowledged the affection for the old building while welcoming the College’s future: “The ‘Flete is dead,” she said. “Long live the Waynflete!”
