Magdalen President Dinah Rose KC has been nominated for an honorary degree by the Chancellor of the University of Oxford, William Hague (1979).
Dinah will be awarded an honorary doctorate of civil law. She is one of nine people recognized by Lord Hague in his first year as Chancellor. The other nominees are:
- Sir John Curtice (1973) – Professor of Politics at the University of Strathclyde
- Irene Tracey – Vice-Chancellor of the University of Oxford
- Dr Dominic Sandbrook – Presenter of The Rest is History podcast
- John Kerry – Former US Secretary of State
- Christina Lamb – Foreign correspondent and author
- Isabella Tree – Conservationist and author
- Professor Jonathan Haidt – Social psychologist, New York University
- Elish Angiolini – Lord Clerk Register of Scotland
“I am utterly delighted to have been nominated for an honorary doctorate by the Chancellor,” said Dinah. “It is a great privilege to represent Lord Hague’s own college, Magdalen, in this way.”
The degrees will be awarded during a ceremony at Oxford in February next year.
