Huge congratulations to alumna Lucy Rock (1988) who has been appointed as the first female editor of the Observer in more than a century.

Lucy’s historic appointment as print editor of the world’s oldest Sunday newspaper comes as part of a new chapter for the Observer. The announcement coincides with its sale to Tortoise Media, a move aimed at bolstering the title’s digital presence while preserving its heritage.

Describing the role as a “huge privilege” in an article in the Guardian, Lucy aims to deliver lively, provocative, and award-winning journalism while helping to shape the Observer’s growing digital identity. We’re very excited to see what will happen with Lucy at the helm.
