Former President of Magdalen College Sir David Clary has published his latest book called The Lost Scientists of World War II. He will be lecturing on his book at the Royal Institution in Albemarle St. London on Monday 11 November at 7pm, and all are welcome. In-person or online bookings can be made through here: https://www.rigb.org/whats-on/lost-scientists-wwii

The book tells the stories of scientists from Germany and other European countries who vanished during World War II. These distinguished scholars contributed to diverse scientific fields and were associated with some of the world’s leading universities and research institutions. They all sought help from agencies to relocate to the UK in the 1930s, but were unable to secure the necessary assistance. Sir David’s talk will explore the fascinating narratives of these scientific refugees, presenting fresh insights into the tragic fates or astounding survival experiences of these individuals, and linking to the challenges faced by refugees in modern times.
