Today we saw foxes, squirrels, muntjacs, gulls, and the flood waters have receded a little so we can actually get out onto Addison’s and explore! Sometimes it’s really hard having such a beautiful College to look at every day… wait, what are we talking about? No it’s not! 🥹🤭

In the summer, we went to College Farm at Lower Qu

In the summer, we went to College Farm at Lower Quinton with Magdalen Fellow Tim Barraclough, and a group of second year Biology Students who were conducting a survey of soil condition and biodiversity on the farm. Recently, we’ve been working with the new farmer there, Will, investigating regenerative farming practices and their impact on biodiversity more generally. This is part of the College’s sustainability initiatives.

Thank you to Marianna, a recent Magdalen Graduate in Human Sciences, for giving us her advice for freshers. If you’re coming up to Magdalen this October, here’s five things Marianna is glad she did, and one thing she wishes she’d done while she was an undergraduate here!

Whether you’re coming to Oxford, or any other uni, or doing almost anything - Marianna’s advice is just great life advice really! So get out there and enjoy it.

Number 1. Spend time in communal spaces
2. Say yes to as many things as possible
3. Give yourself a structured day
4. Ask for help when you need it
5. Take loads of pictures!

And the one thing Marianna wishes she’d done more is explore the city and surrounding areas!
