Research Fellowships

Each year the College proposes to elect up to four Fellows by Examination (elsewhere known as Junior Research Fellows). Each Fellowship is tenable for three years. The Fellow is a member of the Governing Body of the College for the first two years and is entitled to free lunches and dinners in College and a research allowance. Fellows by Examination are expected to live in the Oxford area, and his/her research base must be in Oxford

Visiting Fellowships

Each year the College elects a Visiting Fellow or Fellows for periods of one year or shorter during an academic year. In addition, a Robert S. Campbell Visiting Fellow may be elected for research in law, especially commercial or competition law. A Visiting Fellowship is intended to offer an established scholar, either from abroad or from the United Kingdom, an opportunity to pursue his or her own study and research as a member of the College.

Snack Bar Assistant

Magdalen College is seeking to appoint a Snack Bar Assistant to join our established Catering team.  The Catering team service the Senior Common Room, providing lunch and High table dinners.   The Buttery provides breakfast, lunch and dinner provisions for Middle Common Room and Junior Common Room members in Hall.   The Old Kitchen bar provides a snack bar service throughout the day as well as a licensed bar during the evenings, also providing a venue to students’ bops and functions.  The College also houses several residential Fellows and provides teaching and meeting rooms, office and common rooms that are serviced seven days a week.   The College is a busy conference venue during the summer months and is also a popular destination for visitors to Oxford during the vacations. 

The salary for this post will be on the scale £23,881 – £28,381 per annum, equivalent to Grade 3 of the College Unified Pay Scale, depending on skills and experience, plus Oxford Location Allowance of £1,500 per annum. The successful candidate will be working 40 hours per week on a rostered basis to include Sundays in the long vacation.
