Research Fellowships

Each year the College proposes to elect up to four Fellows by Examination (elsewhere known as Junior Research Fellows). Each Fellowship is tenable for three years. The Fellow is a member of the Governing Body of the College for the first two years and is entitled to free lunches and dinners in College and a research allowance. Fellows by Examination are expected to live in the Oxford area, and his/her research base must be in Oxford.

Visiting Fellowships

Each year the College elects a Visiting Fellow or Fellows for periods of one year or shorter during an academic year. In addition, a Robert S. Campbell Visiting Fellow may be elected for research in law, especially commercial or competition law. A Visiting Fellowship is intended to offer an established scholar, either from abroad or from the United Kingdom, an opportunity to pursue his or her own study and research as a member of the College.

Food & Beverage Counter Assistant (Permanent Position)

Magdalen College has a vacancy for a Food & Beverage Counter Assistant.

The hours of work will be 80 hours per fortnight on a two-week roster with some split shifts to include weekends. 

The salary for this post will be on the scale £23,881 – £28,381 per annum (equivalent to Grade 3 of the Magdalen College Pay Scale) depending on skills and experience, plus Oxford Location Allowance of £1,500 per annum.

Magdalen College has a vacancy for a Lodge Porter / Receptionist. This is a full-time post working an average of 42 hours per week to include days, nights and weekend shifts.

Salary is on Grade 4 of the College Pay Scale £26,338 – £32,546 per annum, plus £1,500 Oxford Location Allowance per annum.

Admissions Officer (Permanent or Fixed-Term Position)

Magdalen College is seeking to appoint an Admissions Officer. This is an exciting opportunity to be involved in the life of Magdalen and to play a significant role in administering the admissions process for undergraduate and graduate applicants to the College, providing support to the Tutor for Undergraduate Admissions, the Tutor for Graduate Admissions, and the Senior Tutor. This is a permanent position available from 15 September 2025 or as soon as possible thereafter, but the College will also consider applications from candidates who are looking for a fixed-term position and who would be able to take up the post from 15 September 2025 or very shortly thereafter.

Salary range: £33,482 – £42,882 per annum, plus £1,500 per annum (Oxford Location Allowance).

Outreach and Access Officer (Fixed-Term 3 years)

Magdalen College is seeking to appoint a full-time Outreach and Access Officer.  The successful candidate will share in the responsibility for implementing the College’s outreach and access programmes (involving work on Widening Access, Widening Participation, and Student Recruitment), and in the responsibility for maintaining the non-technical aspects of the relevant sections of the College website, ensuring that their contents are up to date and communicate the College’s values and objectives effectively, and for administering the content of the College’s social media communications in respect of outreach and access. This is a fixed-term appointment of three years’ duration.

The successful applicant will have a good first degree, recent experience of Higher Education and involvement with outreach, excellent written and oral communication skills, a high level of computer literacy, and excellent interpersonal skills, time-management skills, and attention to detail.  The post is available from Monday 29 September 2025 or as soon as possible thereafter. 

Salary range: £29,959 – £38,249 per annum, plus £1,500 per annum (Oxford Location Allowance).
