The application procedures and deadlines for second undergraduate degree applicants are the same as for candidates applying to study a first degree. For further information please see the Second undergraduate degrees section of the University of Oxford website.
Second BA applications can be considered for all of the BA courses offered at Magdalen with the exception of Fine Art and Law with Law Studies in Europe. In most subjects, second BA candidates may apply for ‘Senior Status’, which exempts students from the First Public Examination, thereby allowing students to enter directly into the second year of the degree. To apply for Senior Status, candidates should follow the same application procedures but also indicate their Point of Entry as Year 2 on their UCAS application. Even in those subjects at Magdalen which do permit Senior Status, you may be made an offer not for Senior Status but for the full course if this is felt appropriate.
Magdalen does not consider Senior Status applications in the following subjects:
- Archaeology and Anthropology
- Human Sciences
- Law (For a list of the colleges which will consider Senior Status Law please click here)
