Scholarships and Awards

Duration: Initially one year, with possible renewal.
Eligibility: For Commonwealth citizen graduates reading Chemistry.
Value: £14,000 per annum, tenable up to three years.
Remarks: This studentship may not be awarded every year (it will not be awarded in the 2022/23 admissions round). There is no separate application process and this award may be offered in conjunction with another University award, such as a Clarendon Fund scholarship.

Duration: Initially one year, renewable after review.
Eligibility: Restricted to graduate students who are already studying at Magdalen.
Value: Assessed according to individual circumstances.
Remarks: A variety of maintenance grants or loans to help graduate students who experience unforeseen need. Application is made via an internal College application form.

Duration: Period of the fee liability.
Eligibility: Students ordinarily resident in the EEA or Switzerland.
Value: 100% of the College and University tuition fees, and a grant of at least £17,668 for living expenses.
Remarks: This studentship may not be awarded every year (it will not be awarded in the 2022/23 admissions round). Awarded to an eligible candidate who has applied by the relevant January deadline for a new DPhil at Oxford in Engineering, specialising in Biomedical Engineering. There is no separate application process.

 

Duration: Up to four years in total.
Eligibility: Students who are an ordinary resident of Hong Kong and are citizens of the People’s Republic of China (PRC). Candidates should be intending to return to Hong Kong or the PRC on completion of their studies.
Value: Maximum of £40,000 per annum as a contribution towards College and University tuition fees and living expenses.
Remarks: This studentship may not be awarded every year (it will not be awarded in the 2022/23 admissions round). Awarded to eligible candidates who have been accepted for a place at Magdalen. Preference will be given to candidates who will study Law, Politics, Philosophy, or Economics. Courses longer than four years are not eligible, nor are courses in Clinical Medicine or Business Studies. There is no separate application process.

Duration: Period of the fee liability.
Eligibility: One full scholarship is available for applicants who are applying to any full-time graduate course in the department of Law within the range accepted by Magdalen College. To check whether the course you are planning to apply for is accepted by Magdalen College, please review the relevant Course page. Preference will be given to any students studying towards the Bachelor of Civil Law (BCL).
Value: The scholarship covers course fees and provides a grant for living costs. Awards are made for the full duration of your fee liability for the agreed course.
Remarks: The scholarship is only tenable at Magdalen College. All eligible applicants will be considered for the scholarship, regardless of which college (if any) you state as your preference on the graduate application form. However, successful applicants will be transferred to Magdalen College in order to take up the scholarship.

Eligibility: Students ordinarily resident in the UK for at least five year prior to the start of the course.
Value: 100% of course fees, and a grant for living costs (of at least £17,668)
Remarks: Awarded to eligible candidates who have applied by the relevant January deadline for a new DPhil at Oxford. For entry in October 2023, three scholarships are available to applicants to the full-time DPhil in Maths, in Physics, and in History. There is no separate application process.

Value: 100% of course fees, and a grant for living costs of at least £17,668 per annum
Remarks: These studentships will be awarded in the 2022/23 admissions round.
