Talks With Tutors- Taster Subject Lectures
Sign up is now open on a first come basis!
Magdalen College is proud to begin a series of virtual lectures delivered by our academic tutors for state school students in our 7 link areas: Barnsley, Brent, Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, Rotherham, Sheffield, Westminster. These aim to give school students a taster of what studying a particular subject may be like at university level. Each talk will be delivered using Microsoft Teams and include a Q&A where you can ask your own questions.
Talks are dependent on the availability of tutors and we will be adding more events as the term goes on so please check back. Currently available for sign ups are the following talks:

18th February -15:30-16:30 – Prof of Biochemistry, Rob Gilbert – For A level Students – “Evolutionarily conserved mechanisms in infection immunity”
- 23rd February- 15:30-16:30– Prof of Economics, Jennifer Castle- For Y9-Y11- “Can Economists Forecast Crashes”
- 2nd March -15:30-16:30 – Prof of Biology, Tim Barraclough – For Y9-11 – “Evolution in Action”
If you are a student then you may sign up to a talk as an individual and if you are a teacher you are able to sign up a whole class. If you are a teacher and you have filled in our sign up form, your students will NOT need to sign up as individuals, we will contact you separately to obtain the names of your students. If you would like to attend multiple events you will need to fill in the form for each event.
Please note that you MUST meet both the following criteria to sign up or your sign up will be void:
- Be from one the following regions: Barnsley, Brent, Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, Rotherham, Sheffield, Westminster
- Attend or work at a non-selective state school
