Graduate Housing
There are several different buildings used for graduate student accomodation. Graduate students are guaranteed accommodation for two years during their time at Magdalen, but many graduates are able to stay in College for longer. Graduate rooms are graded on a scale of A-F, (A - en suite bathroom, etc.) and prices vary accordingly.
This page provides an introduction to the housing system at Magdalen; for more information contact catherine.hughes@magd.ox.ac.uk.
The Magdalen MCR has created accommodation guides for single and partnered accommodation. These guides in Adobe Acrobat format (.pdf) contain photos taken by previous occupants and subjective opinions.
Buildings
Holywell Ford
The Holywell Ford graduate complex consists of three buildings: the original Holywell House and Holywell Stables, and the newly renovated Holywell Ford Quad. All three are set back within College along Addison's walk by the deer park, and a branch of the Cherwell River runs underneath Holywell House. The complex is adjacent to the College squash courts, and is also accessible via a gated entrance on Longwall Street. Parking is available, though spots are limited and allotted via the Home Bursar.
The Holywell Ford complex consists of individual staircases of six people, with two on each floor, all sharing kitchen and bathroom facilities. All rooms have their own sinks. Holywell Ford House and Stable rooms have similar facilities. A laundry room is shared among all students.
Cowley Place
Cowley Place is a complex located close to the Cowley roundabout, about five minutes away from College. It is conveniently close to Iffley sports centre as well as restaurants and shops along Cowley Road and St. Clements. Rooms vary, but are mainly Grade A with en suite bathrooms. Some have adjacent study rooms. Kitchen and laundry facilities are shared in the basement.
Daubeny Building and the Professor's House
Daubeny is a newly renovated housing complex for both graduate students and fellows of college, while the Professor's house is only for graduates. Both are located on the High St. overlooking the botanical gardens. Housing is mainly Grade A with en suite bathrooms, and shared kitchen and laundry facilities.
St. Clements
Located next to the Waynflete building by the Cowley roundabout, this is a small complex with shared bathroom, kitchen, and laundry facilities in the adjacent Waynflete Building.
Rose Lane and 63 High Street
Located on High Street opposite college, both buildings have similar grade rooms, with shared bathroom, kitchen, and laundry facilities.
