Academic Background
I read Literae Humaniores at St. Hugh’s College, Oxford 2004-8, where I was fortunate to be taught Latin literature by Dr. Peta Fowler. I moved to Brasenose College for my graduate work (MSt. 2008; DPhil 2009-), under the supervision of Prof. Tobias Reinhardt. I arrived at Magdalen as lecturer in Latin literature in Michaelmas 2010.
Undergraduate Teaching
At Magdalen I teach a range of papers in Latin literature, including Virgil, Texts and Contexts, Latin Core, Latin Didactic Poetry, and various papers for Classical joint schools.
Research Interests
I am interested in Roman philosophical texts and the unique interpretative problems which they present. I am currently working on a study of linguistic theory and practice in the Roman Epicurean philosopher Lucretius. I also have a burgeoning interest in the reception of Epicureanism in early Christian writing.
