Academic Background
Following an undergraduate degreee in chemistry and physics, Dr Mackenzie first came up to Magdalen as a graduate student, obtaining his DPhil in 1996 for studies of ZEKE spectroscopy and the study of rotational state-selected ion molecule reactions. Under a NATO Postdoctoral Fellowship he then worked with Prof David Nesbitt in Boulder Colorado, USA, studying photoinitiated processes in weakly-bound molecular clusters. A return to oxford under a Ramsay Memorial Fellowship and a Research Fellowship at St. Anne's College was followed by his first academic post in 1999 as first lecturer and then senior lecturer at the University of Warwick. He and his group moved to the Department of Chemistry in Cambridge in 2006 when Dr Mackenzie took up a University Lecturehsip and a Fellowship at Pembroke College. Completing a great academic circle Dr Mackenzie returned to Oxford (and Magdalen) in October 2008 when he took up a University Lectureship in the Physical and Theoretical Chemistry Laboratory.Undergraduate Teaching
Dr Mackenzie teaches all aspects of Physical and Theoretical Chemistry.Research Interests
