Professor Peter J Ratcliffe FRS, the Nuffield Professor of Clinical Medicine at the University of Oxford, and Fellow of Magdalen College, has been awarded a 2010 Canada Gairdner Award for a discovery that paved the way for therapies to improve oxygen supply in people with diseases of the heart and circulation.
The Canada Gairdner awards honour groundbreaking medical research behind cancer, epilepsy and heart disease and malaria treatments.
