Magdalen Library Event in New York

22 November 2012

An event was held for Magdalen members in North America on Saturday 17 November in the Grolier Club, New York.  A major project to refurbish and extend the College Library was highlighted.

The President David Clary started off the evening and introduced Tutorial Fellow in English Robert Douglas-Fairhurst who gave a stimulating talk on his prize-winning research on Charles Dickens. Fellow Librarian Christine Ferdinand then presented the details of the Library Project and the Chair of the Magdalen Campaign, Paul Beckwith, gave the summarising remarks.

The event was well attended and there was then further opportunity for discussion of the Library Project in the very appropriate location of the rare books room in the Grolier Club (pictured).
