Andrew Wynn Owen Wins the Newdigate Prize

Andrew Wynn Owen (pictured), a third-year student in English Language and Literature at Magdalen, has won the Newdigate Prize.
This highly prestigious prize‎ is awarded each year to a student of the University of Oxford for the best composition in English verse. It was first awarded in 1806 and previous winners from Magdalen include Oscar Wilde, Jon Stallworthy, James Fenton, Alan Hollinghurst and Jane Griffiths. Andrew’s prize-winning poem “The Centrifuge” is featured below and will be read at the Encaenia. Andrew’s composition can be found by following this link.
