Background

Will has a first class BA in English Language & Literature (2009), and an MSt in English, 1550-1700 (2011), both from Merton College, Oxford.  After his studies he retrained as a librarian, and was the Graduate Trainee at All Souls College for the academic year 2012-2013.  He completed an MA in Library & Information Studies at UCL in 2014, and later worked as a cataloguer for All Souls College and the Bodleian Libraries.  He worked at the English Faculty Library for three years as a Library Assistant before joining Magdalen College as Assistant Librarian in 2017.

Role in the College

Will assists the Librarian and Deputy Librarian in the smooth running of the College’s library service, splitting his time between the Longwall Library and the Old Library.  He is responsible for the cataloguing and classification of new acquisitions, book requests, and donations, in addition to assisting the Librarian and Deputy Librarian with the development of the College’s collections more generally.  He is also partly responsible for the Magdalen Libraries’ reader services activities, including library inductions, research enquiries, and social media.
