Background:

Katy Wells did her BA in Philosophy at the University of Cambridge, and completed her DPhil in Politics at Nuffield College, Oxford.  She was an Associate Lecturer at the University of York between 2015 and 2016, and joined Magdalen College as a Fellow by Examination in 2016.

Research:

My research interests are in contemporary political philosophy. I have three main areas of research interest: on property, housing, and power. In the area of property, my research focusses on a particular property relation: renting. In the area of housing, I am interested in questions of what justice in housing consists in. Finally, I am interested in developing a plausible “positive” account of power.

Publications:

  • The Right to Personal Property (Politics, Philosophy & Economics, 2016)
  • Liberal Egalitarianism and Weak Economic Freedoms (CRISPP, 2016)
