Borrowing an item
All books in the New Library, except periodicals, reference books and those marked "confined to the library" may be borrowed by college members.
Borrowing
All items should be checked out using the computer on the enquiry desk. Scan your University card, and then the barcode inside the front of each book. Remember to click on finish once completed. The computer should tell you when the items are due back.
Books
Books may be borrowed for up to four weeks and are due for return by 5pm on Thursday of 1st, 4th and 8th weeks. Two email reminders are sent beforehand. A fine of £1.50 is charged for each overdue item.
Films
Films may be borrowed until 5pm the following day (or 5pm on Monday if borrowed on Friday), and may be renewed if they have not been reserved by another reader. The film collection is kept in locked cabinets and can only be accessed during office hours. A fine of £1.50 is charged for each overdue item.
Returning
Books and films should be returned to the book-drop under the computer on the enquiry desk. Library staff will check them in.
Renewals
Books and films can be renewed online here. Your password is your date of birth in the format 03APR1984. Speak to a member of staff if you need help.
Reservations and suggestions
These can be collected from the right hand side of the trolley behind the enquiry desk. They are held for one week.
