Conservation

Magdalen's collections include medieval manuscripts, parchment deeds and account rolls, prints, photographs, maps and early printed books in historic bindings.  The college belongs to the Oxford Conservation Consortium, a collaborative conservation centre formed by a group of Oxford colleges in 1990, which provides the collections with specialist care to preserve them for current and future use.

In 2006, the Oxford Conservation Consortium was awarded a grant of £23,060 by the Wellcome Trust for the conservation of early medical collections at Magdalen and Merton colleges.  Full details of the project, entitled "Medical History in Oxford College Collections" can be found here and here.
