Letter from W. D. Macray (address Ducklington, Witney) to Wilson. Macray praises Wilson’s history of Magdalen, the first few chapters of which he has just read. He is impressed with the photographs.

Letter from Edward Chapman (address Hill End, Mottram in Longdendale, Cheshire) to Wilson. Chapman discusses a trip down to Oxford and London, mentioning various meetings and appointments. He talks about his holiday and the illness of a close friend. Mutual acquaintances mentioned include Trenchman, Dreyfus and Gunter. Chapman appears to have been working on a life of Dean Liddell and Sir J Prestwich. He praises Wilson’s College history, singling out the photographs, which he considers to be ‘quite a new feature.’

Letter from J. Bretland Farmer (address Claremont House, Wimbledon Common) to Wilson. Farmer tells Wilson that he has enjoyed reading his history of Magdalen and tells him that it is selling well. (The letter is dated to 1899 by the publication of the College History).
MC:F23/C8/4 11 May 1900
Letter from W.E. Sherwood (address: Magdalen College School) to Wilson. Sherwood says that he has come across the names of the combination crew of Magdalen and Corpus, which may interest Wilson, although the information comes too late for inclusion in Wilson’s book. Sherwood supplies a list of names.
