MC:F49/X3 – Other Ephemera
Printed broadside ballad of “An Excellent New Song On the Late Resumption of An Old War”, to be sung to the tune “O Dublin is a fine town”. The ballad appears to satirise the practice of vivisection by Oxford scientists. The date is derived from a copy of this broadside held in the Bodleian Library (shelfmark: Johnson Ballads 2481).
MC:F49/X3/2 9 December 1964
Note from W.M.M. Chapman (address: 103 Metchley Lane, Harborne, Birmingham) “for Mrs R.W.C[hapman]” accompanying MC:F49/X3/1. Referring to the broadside, Chapman writes: “I expect you have this, and it is perhaps ephemeral, but I thought you might possibly like to have it.”
