MC:P402 Photographs belonging to Joe Webb
These photographs were donated to the Archives in May 2010 by Ken Hill. They were originally assembled by his wife’s grandfather, Joe Webb. Webb’s family had farmed near Cumnor, but he decided that he would rather look after the New College and Magdalen beagles instead. Family legend has it that his parents, wishing him to take on the farm in their stead, were opposed to his decision and disowned him. Webb, however, looked after the hounds for about 40 years. Apparently, when he retired Edward VIII (by then Duke of Windsor) wrote to the college offering some money to help support him.
The photographs were accessioned in May 2010 as accession number 10/87.
Catalogued 13 September 2012 by Sean Rippington.
