Short note (possibly a draft) to Frederick York Powell from Greene. Dated December 1894. Greene has written in Latin and writes to congratulate Powell on his becoming the Regius Professor of Modern History at Oxford.

Letter to Greene (Magdalen College) from Frederick York Powell, dated 26 March 1896. Powell appears to be thanking Greene for his assistance but the writer employs a highly idiosyncratic style that makes it difficult to interpret without further context.

Small card addressed to Greene (Magdalen College) from Oliver Elton (35 Parkfield Road, Liverpool). Dated 1 March 1906. Elton writes to Greene thanking him for sending the letters of Powell. At that time, Elton was in the process of writing Powell’s biography, which he published in 1906. (2 items: envelope and card.)

Letter to Greene from Oliver Elton (35 Parkfield Road, Liverpool), dated 3 March 1906. Elton writes that he is sending back Powell’s letters (see MC:F29/3/C2/7); asks Greene for help deciphering them; and requests some further information on Powell.

Gordon writes to say he has been presented with a copy of James White’s Falstalf letters, which was originally given by Greene to Frederick York Powell. (2 items: envelope and notepaper).

Letter to C. T. Onions from George Gordon (Magdalen College), dated 28 December 1941. Gordon writes that he enclosed a book and piece of correspondence that Herbert Greene intended for Magdalen library. It would appear that the book and letter refer to Elton’s biography of Frederick York Powell and Greene’s correspondence from him (see: MC:F29/3/C2/7–9).
